is committed to providing On-site Maintenance Services to deliver quality outcomes and has successfully achieved this at Bluescope Steel’s Hot Strip Mill and Cold Reduction units.

During major shutdown periods WPP&MS has provided in excess of 160 on-site personnel including a management/supervisory infrastructure to adequately support this work program. WPP&MS has on numerous occasions been the principle Contractor at the Bluescope Steel – Western Port site and just recently completed 4 major shutdowns within a six week period representing 30,193 man-hours, with zero Lost Time Injury and no time lost due to industrial disputation.

As a progression to this, WPP&MS is endeavouring to establish ‘Alliance’ type arrangements for on-site maintenance at Bluescope Steel. The potential gains in efficiency and subsequent impact on maintenance costs are the reasons why this alternative approach is now being trialed on the Cold Mill maintenance outages.
